"DONDOLINO" ENGINE ON "FALCONE" FRAME - HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE TEST, CHANGING INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS

The dynamometer model used for these tests is a Soft-Engine "Braker 150", a braked dynamometer. Tested motorbike, instad, is a "Moto Guzzi Falcone 1951" with a "Dondolino" engine.  Several components were tested, mainly the intake and exhaust pipes (different shapes and lenghts). These horse-power and torque tests purpouse is to determinate the performances of this famous engine to discover with reasonable certainty what power and potential could have to that time (the Fourteens). We think so, obviously we have not discovered everything because we are alone to the beginning...

During this test session at dynamometer (over 70 tests) the intake trumpets and the exhaust pipes and silencers have been changed. Also, the carburization was tuned and the mechanical parts made by INGEGNERIADEPOCA were checked; however, in origin, this engine showed the same sturdiness, because it participated in competitions like the the Milan-Taranto without any problem. The complete report of these results is published in "Il manuale di ingegneria d'epoca" ("The handbook of classic engineering"), volume 2 available on demand.
